The short answer
In 2026 the cost of a personal trainer in the Netherlands averages between €40 and €90 per hour. In and around the Randstad — Amsterdam, Haarlem and the Haarlemmermeer — you're often at the upper end, simply because demand and rent are higher there.
At Personal Training Zwanenburg you pay €60 for a one-on-one 60-minute session. Train together and you pay less per person. Further down we explain exactly why the prices are what they are.
What does the price depend on?
No two personal trainers charge the same, and there are a few logical reasons for that. The biggest factors are:
- Experience and specialisation: a trainer with years of experience, certifications and specialisms (kickboxing, rehabilitation or nutrition coaching, for example) usually charges more than someone just starting out.
- Location: train in a private studio with its own equipment and the rent for that space is part of the price. If the trainer comes to your home or the park, you often pay travel costs or travel time.
- Type of training: one-on-one is the most intensive and therefore the most expensive per session. Duo and small group training are cheaper per person because you share the attention — and the cost.
Per session or per month?
Most people think of single sessions, but a monthly package is often cheaper if you train regularly. With us a monthly package of 12 sessions costs €600 for one-on-one — that works out at €50 per session instead of €60.
The benefit of a monthly package isn't just the price. Those who schedule a fixed number of sessions per month demonstrably train more consistently and see results faster. Single sessions, on the other hand, give maximum flexibility if your schedule is unpredictable.
Sharing the cost smartly
Want personal training on a smaller budget? Train together. With duo training you split a €70 session between two — that's €35 per person. With small group training (up to 10 people) the price per person drops further.
You keep surprisingly much personal attention: the groups are small and exercises are adapted per person. For many people training together is also more motivating — you keep each other sharp and the appointment actually happens.
Is a personal trainer worth it?
Don't judge it on the price per hour, but on the price per goal achieved.
A fair question. A gym membership costs a few dozen euros a month; a personal trainer is several times that. The difference is in results per hour invested.
With personal guidance you train with the right technique (fewer injuries), the right program (no time wasted on exercises that don't work for you) and the right intensity. Many people who 'worked out' for years without progress achieve more with a trainer in a few months than before in years.
Watch for hidden costs
Always ask before you sign. Is there a registration or administration fee? Do you pay for missed appointments? Are there costs for an intake or a nutrition plan? With us the intake and first trial are free, parking at the studio is free, and you simply pay per session or per month — no small print.
